Jewel Marisel was a Tarisian Noble brought up in the strictly traditional Marisel family of Taris. Her family, though at odds with some of their ideals, had close ties to the Burnside family. She spent her childhood years attending school with the young and brash Montgomery Burnside, at times finding her self tagging along on a few of his reckless adventures in the lower city. Though she had a slight sense of adventure, her main focus was on her studies, which she excelled at across the board. At the age of 13 she was accepted into the prestigious Tarisian Institute of Gifted Youngsters; there she spent the remainder of her school years focusing her studies on Galactic History, Social Sciences and Advanced Medicine.
After graduating the Institute with high honors, she went to work with her father on the political scene. In her spare time she would often be seen playing Pazacc and Sabbacc or studying the strategy of the local sharks at the cantina. She also found a vast interest in marksmanship and became an excellent shot with a blaster pistol. Worried that she might get hurt while at the range her father had provided her with a vest and helmet to wear while shooting.
During the Mandalorian invasion, Jewel’s father inlisted the aid of S.T.A.R. Inc to help secure transport off world. In the fighting she was separated from the main group and was stranded. Fearing capture by the Mandalorians Jewel did her best to hide herself in the alleyways of the upper city until help could arrive. After some time, she was rescued by Delvin Slager and one of his associates from S.T.A.R. Unable to reach the starport safely, they made their way down to the Middle City and boarded a transport heading to Nar Shaddaa. From there they would attempt to secure transport to Coursant.
